Help and Tutorials

The following resources are designed to assist districts with the accurate submission of the Transportation Report.
  • The statutes provide that aid is paid for students who are actually transported by the school district. See Pupil Transportation Frequently Asked Questions for more details.

  • Edits have been added to the SAFR Transportation Report for the purpose of improving the accuracy of the data. The preparer will be alerted to possible errors when:

    • Differences occur that exceed 10% of the count of pupils transported in each distance category to that of the prior year transportation report

    • Pupils transported are 90% or more of the September membership count

    • An unusually hazardous transportation plan is not on file for pupils reported in the 0-2 mile distance categories

    • Pupils transported 90 days or less exceed those transported over 90 days

    • Summer school pupils were not reported

    • Vocational school pupils were not reported

  • Worksheet: An Excel worksheet is available that can be used to independently calculate the districts transportation aid eligibility at Transportation Aid Worksheet.

  • Multi-Year Data Comparison: To assist the district in reviewing the data reported, the Review Your Answers section of the application includes a report showing the number of pupils reported by distance category and in total for the last 3 years. The proportion of pupils transported to the September count of pupils is shown for each year.

  • Navigation, data entry, and error corrections: these functions can be found by entering the transportation portal and following the prompts that are provided by the wizard application tool that appears after the report year link is opened. In the upper right is a 'Review Your Answers' link which will connect to screens that will enable navigation within the application, edits for corrections to the data, links to questions and answers on transportation aid, and access to the data entered in the summer school, regular and vocational school reports.
